2. Why do values matter?
Values-driven investing has five main potential benefits:
- Conscience – Christians know that their investments contribute to God’s kingdom and do not contradict biblical values

- Community – communities and the people therein benefit from doing things God’s way
- Society – sufficient investor interest may encourage companies to adopt approaches to their businesses and operations that are more consistent with biblical values
- Cost – there is no out-of-pocket cost to obtain these potential benefits from voting for biblical values with your investment dollars
Thus, as one Christian asked, “Why would I not want to align my investments with the values I read in the Bible and am taught every Sunday?” Based on our disciplined values research, we want our model portfolios to contain only companies that are consistent with biblical values.
